Tidbit #5: Podcasting Tidbit to get rid of mic noise on Skype

0 #

A quick tidbit that I thought some people may benefit from: If you hook up a usb microphone, or a usb headset to your G5 (because there is no standard 1/8 in mic input spot on a G5 Powermac Tower) hook it up to the back usb port, not the front. If you hook up the mic/headset/mixer to the front usb port you will get interference from the fans/etc.

It may sound like a simple buzzing, humming, or it could sound like a jumbo jet is pulling up next to your podcast which is what it sounded like when I did testing. I got crystal clear sound through Skype and through Audacity when I hooked up my mixer up to the usb port in the back of the G5. Kinda makes you wonder why Apple wouldn’t put a mic input on the G5 Powermacs?
