While doing the normal reading I do everyday at work I decided to stop by the Cloverfield viral website 1-18-08.com and there were two photos on there that I didn’t recognize.
The first one being the man in the boat with a bunch of blood around him. Looks like a big time Photoshop job to me, but still looks kinda cool. The other photo seems to be the gory remains of Clover, the Cloverfield Monster. Or is it something else? Kinda hard to see if there’s any identifiable features in the remains, but a cool photo nonetheless. I tried shaking the photos to see if there was anything on the back and unfortunately they were both blank unlike the picture with the chef.
A friend of mine from Tippett Studios in Berkely, the company that did alot of the post production visual effects for the monsters and I were talking about how the ambiguity of the ending would make for a good thread line to a sequel where there was another camera found. I think it’d be a great spin off idea if they found a camera that belonged to one of the soldiers and was in the style of some of those YouTube videos that soldiers from Iraq have been posting. Another idea could be a having some sort of documentary style footage from scientists or researchers at Tagruato, the company responsible for the Clover Monster attacking New York. Either way it’d make for a great sequel…
Another thing my friend mentioned to me was that there’d be a Clover Monster toy coming out and that a major reason why this reason this movie was made was to sell toys. At $99.99 it seems a bit pricey to me, I’d much rather have a high resolution render of the final shot or two on my wall right next to my future Joker from The Dark Knight poster.

Cloverfield is a great movie, and the idea is great of this blockbuster.
Just want to say that, and it’s a great blog you got here.
